Yaki Guri (Roasted Chestnuts)
Brought directly from Niigata — only by Hokkaido Uni Shop.

What is Yaki Guri?
Yaki guri (甘栗) is Japanese roasted chestnuts from Niigata, steamed and roasted under high pressure to draw the natural sweetness into every bite. The result is a chestnut with a slightly firm texture and a deep, rich sweetness — fuller than an ordinary roasted chestnut, because the high-pressure roasting concentrates the sugars. They come vacuum-sealed in a 250g frozen pack.

Already cooked and peeled, they're ready to eat after a quick thaw — no roasting or shelling to do. A beloved autumn treat in Japan, kept frozen so it's available year-round.

How to enjoy

Thaw and eat as is — they're already cooked and peeled, so they make an easy snack straight from the pack, warm or at room temperature. From there they go into desserts (Mont Blanc, chestnut rice, cakes) or savory dishes, and fold easily into rice or stuffing. To warm them, a short time in a pan or microwave brings back the just-roasted aroma.

Pairing notes — green tea, hojicha, coffee, chestnut rice, and desserts.

Thawing: Ships frozen and vacuum-sealed. Thaw before eating; they're fully cooked and ready to enjoy. Do not refreeze after thawing, and once opened, keep cold and use within a couple of days. This is a pre-order item that usually takes about a week to prepare. Any transit damage should be reported to the carrier directly.
