What is Takumi Clear olive oil?
Takumi (巧み) is a refined olive oil from Toyo Olive on Shodoshima, the island in Kagawa where olive growing in Japan began over a century ago. This is the "clear" type — refined in-house to be clean and transparent, with next to no taste or aroma of its own. It comes in a 200ml bottle.

That's the opposite of an extra-virgin oil, and it's the point. Where extra-virgin is prized for its strong flavor and scent, this one is made to stay out of the way — an all-purpose oil for frying, sautéing, and any cooking where you don't want the oil to change the taste of the food. The olives are hand-picked and sorted for the best fruit, made in limited quantity, and until now sold only in Japan.

How to enjoy

Use it anywhere you'd use a neutral cooking oil — deep-frying tempura and katsu, stir-frying, sautéing, or greasing a pan — where you want the clean cooking properties of olive oil without its flavor taking over. Because it has almost no scent, it won't compete with delicate ingredients. For finishing dishes raw, an extra-virgin oil is the better choice; this one is built for the heat.

Uses — tempura, katsu, stir-fries, sautéing, and everyday frying.

Good to know: The olives are hand-picked and sorted for the best fruit, and the oil is made in limited quantity — until now available only in Japan. A refined, all-purpose olive oil made for cooking rather than finishing. Store in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight.
