What is Madoromu Sakura?
Madoromu (まどろむ) Sakura is a sake cup with a spring cherry-blossom design that comes to life when you pour something cold into it — below 16°C, the sakura changes into vivid color. It's made of copper coated with tin, a 5oz (150ml) vessel that brings together a visual surprise and the feel of a traditional metal cup.

The metal does two things. Tin is long believed to smooth and round out the character of sake, which is why tin cups have been prized for it, and copper carries cold well, giving a refreshing coolness to the touch. Pour a cold sake and the cherry blossoms bloom as you drink — a small spring moment in the cup, for an omakase dinner or a quiet evening at home.

How to use

Pour a cold drink to bring out the color — chilled sake, or any cold beverage below 16°C, and the cherry-blossom pattern turns vivid. Warm or room-temperature liquids leave it muted, so it's made for cold pours. The copper keeps the drink cool in the hand, and it makes a gift, especially for spring.

Uses — chilled sake, cold beverages, omakase dinners, and seasonal gifting.

Care: Hand-wash and dry thoroughly after use, and keep it out of direct sunlight to preserve the color-changing illustration. Treat it as fine tableware rather than putting it in a dishwasher. A pre-order item that usually takes about a week to prepare. Any transit damage should be reported to the carrier directly.
