Kishu · Honey Umeboshi
Hachimitsu Umeboshi (Sour Plum) from Kishu
Brought directly from Japan — only by Hokkaido Uni Shop.

What is hachimitsu umeboshi?
Umeboshi (梅干し) are Japanese plums salted and pickled until sour. This version is sweetened with honey (蜂蜜 / hachimitsu), which softens the sourness and gives it a mellow, fruity taste. The plum is Kishu Nanko-bai (紀州南高梅), known for thin skin and soft, juicy flesh.

It's the mildest of the umeboshi styles — far less sharp than a plain salt-and-shiso version — which makes it easy to eat on its own with tea rather than only as a seasoning. Made without additives.

How to enjoy

Because it's sweet and only lightly sour, it works as a snack on its own with Japanese tea. It also stands in for fruit in salads, or pairs with plain rice when you want something gentler than a standard umeboshi. A little adds a sweet-tart note to dishes.

Pairing notes — green tea, salads, plain rice, and cheese.

Good to know: Each plum contains a large pit — bite carefully. Made with no additives, sweetened with honey. Store in a cool, dark place away from heat and humidity.
