What is Akaneya grape juice?
This is a white grape juice from Akaneya, a coffee shop in Karuizawa — the historic highland resort in Nagano — that has been running for over half a century. It's made entirely from Japanese Niagara grapes, a variety known for a floral, aromatic scent and a crisp, clean sweetness, with notes of green apple and muscat. It comes in a 1-liter bottle.
The juice was developed with input from people in the wine trade, aiming for an aromatic, well-balanced flavor rather than a simple sweet juice — all from the fruit, with no alcohol. Akaneya's grape juice is the same line that won a 2004 blind tasting held in Karuizawa, where sommeliers and wine buyers judged around two dozen juices with the labels hidden.

Serve it well chilled in a glass. Its crisp, aromatic character makes it an easy pour at the table when others are having wine, and it suits guests who don't drink, children, or anyone driving. It also pairs with light dishes, fruit, and dessert.
