Dokudami on its own is strong and hard to keep drinking. This blend was made to change that: it comes out smooth like mugicha (barley tea), with the roasted depth of hojicha, and no bitterness to push through. It's caffeine-free, so it suits any hour and anyone at the table.

The name came from a dream — its maker heard the words in his sleep and called the tea Yumemakura, "dream pillow." What he was after was plain enough: a dokudami tea you'd actually finish, and pour again the next day. The dokudami, hatomugi, kuko and tochu leaves in this version are grown in Japan, which is also why it's made in limited quantity each year.

How to prepare Dokudami Yumemakura
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sFUK4HBDLQ

Specifications

Origin

Tottori, Japan

Type

Herbal tea (薬草茶) — 10-plant dokudami blend

Ingredients

Dokudami, hatomugi, habucha, kawara-ketsumei, persimmon leaf, kuko leaf, tochu leaf, kumazasa, aloe, licorice

Caffeine

Caffeine-free

Format

Tea bags, 7g × 32

Taste

Smooth like mugicha; roasted depth of hojicha

Brewing

Teapot, simmered, cold-brew, or coffee maker

Storage

Cool, dry place away from direct sunlight

How to enjoy

In a teapot: one tea bag, pour in hot water, wait 20–30 seconds, then pour out to the last drop.
